Many schools call this page "Giving."  At SHDS, we call it "Tzedakah" or "Justice" because we believe that it is as important for us to give as to ask others to give to us.  We take service to others seriously at the Day School. This means that we work very hard with our students to help others, both financially and in other ways.  Through a variety of activities, we have raised funds for victims of disasters, for animal welfare, for the IDF, for those who are hungry, for those who are ill and for those who are in need.  We engage in gemilut hasadim, acts of lovingkindness, by performing for residents of assisted living facilities, visiting the sick, collecting food and helping with community projects.  We believe in the importance of tikkun olam, repairing the world, and work to ensure that our students understand the importance of caring and sharing.
