Syracuse Hebrew Day School Kindergarten!
Kindergarten is a place where each child is seen as unique and capable; where learning is special and central; where high expectations are self-fulfilling; where children start to view themselves as active learners. Our program is an age appropriate curriculum that allows five and six year olds to explore and discover new concepts in a safe, warm, and stimulating environment that fosters a love of learning and the development of positive personal and social values. This is done in a variety of ways. We use thematic units to cover math, science, social studies, and language arts with exciting, active learning experiences in individualized courses of study. Curriculum is adapted for those who are ahead as well as those who need additional help. We love to teach, love to learn, and are excited about ideas, experiences, and the pupils in our class, and each of us has a strong background in early childhood education and child development. Our #1 priority is to make your child’s first year of school a joyful and positive experience and a solid foundation for future growth and achievement.
Each day—except Friday—includes a recess time or physical education for play and exercise. In the winter, there is sledding on our gentle hill! Also during the week, there is a special time for a visit to the school library, art class, music class, and computer class. On Fridays kindergartners join the rest of the school for an assembly program, and our class is responsible for the program in early February.
