SHDS Clubs

Art Club is for students in grades 1 & 2.  Meets every other Wednesday in the Art Room.

Band is for students in grades 3-6.  Lessons are offered through the Band Bus and there is a fee.  Meets every Monday in the Activity Room.

Chess Club is for students in grades 1-6.  Learn to play chess and play with other students.  Team and tournament play is an option.  Our team is called the Day School Knghts.  Meets every Wednesday in the Library. 

Chorus is for students in grades 1-6.  The Chorus performs at assemblies and other programs within the building.  Special t_shirt is required for performance.  Meets every other Tuesday in the Music Room. 

Chai Chorus is for students in grades 3-6.  YOU MUST ALSO BE A MEMBER OF CHORUS TO BE IN CHAI CHORUS.  Special shirt and skirt/pants and tights/socks and black shoes are required.  This Chorus performs outside of the school.  Meets every other Tuesday in the Music Room.

Chai Lites Chorus is a division of Chai Chorus for selected students in grades 5 and 6.  This Chorus performs monthly at the Memory Impairment Unit of the Jewish Home. 

iTon is the student newspaper which is published monthly.  Editors and reporters meet biweekly to get assignments and turn them in.  Open to students in grades 3-6.  Meets every other Monday in Room 14.

Library Corps is for student in grades 4,5,& 6 who would like to learn how the Library operates, includeing checking our and returning books and shelving books.  It takes a fair amount of training to learn these tasks, and the smooth operation of our Library depends on you!  Meets every Monday in the Library. 

Media Production Unit is for students in grades 5 & 6.  Learn to script, interview, produce, film and star in a newscast!  Meets every Thursday in the Library.

Mitzvah Detective Agency  is for students in grades 1-3.  Mitzvah Detectives "catch someone being good," learn about good manners in interpersonal relationships, online, and in public.  They make puppets, comic books, cookies, and more and do good deeds for others.  They have a lot of fun in the bargain!  Meets every other Thursday in Mrs. Loeb's room.

Science Club is for students in grades 4-6 who have an interest in and enthusiasm for science.  It provides opportunities for inquiry-based science exploration in a hands-on setting in the areas of life, physical and earth science, as well as the science of the human body.  Meets every other Thursday in Mrs. Grover's room.

Student Council officers are elected by the student body.  Class representatives are elected by grades 2-6.  Meets every other Friday in the Library.
