Each child at the Syracuse Hebrew Day School is seen as a unique and special learner. Our school's most important goal is the development of the child into a happy and confident student whose background in both general and Judaic studies is the foundation for a meaningful life.
Parents who enroll their children at the Day School do so for two reasons: they want a superior educational program, and they want their children to be seen as unique individuals. The Day School's curricula and goals parallel and frequently exceed those of the public schools. The Day School staff is highly qualified, experienced and tremendously dedicated to your child's achievement.
All students are treated as distinctive individuals at the Day School. We have a student to teacher ratio that never exceeds 8 to 1, so that every child is known and taught according to his or her strengths. We enrich our learning with co-curricular activities such as an annual full-scale drama production, two very active and vibrant Choruses, rockclimbing at the JCC, an participatory Student Council, a chess club, Kids' Fiesta, band lessons and regular assembly programs that allow children to display their multiple intelligences.
The success of Day School students and graduates can be seen in many arenas. Our students' standardized test scores are very high. They annually win honors and awards for science, writing and art. Each year Day School graduates rank among the leaders of their high school classes and go on to attend some of the finest colleges in the country.
The Day School's Judaic program is fully integrated into the school day and includes total immersion in Hebrew language as well as the study of Jewish ethics, values, customs, history, prayer and traditions. As Day School graduates become bar/t mitzvah, they display amazing maturity, confidence, and knowledge. Day School graduates continue their Jewish education after the Day School, and take positions of leadership in youth groups and as teachers in religious schools.
At the Day School, children of many different backgrounds and beliefs are enrolled. Both the school and its students are fortunate that they all have loving and devoted parents who put a priority on their academic achievement. It is this partnership that lies at the heart of our students' success.
